How do you avoid the pigeon drop scam?

Avoiding Pigeon Drop Victimisation

Elderly residents need to be especially careful when dealing with strangers who have fantastic stories about vast sums of money and how they need someone’s help.

It should be noted that strangers would not likely confide in other strangers regarding found money or offer to share their good fortune with you.

Older women will generally be approached while resting on a bench in a larger shopping mall, but it could occur on any street or parking lot.

The cons know what to say and who to say it to, as they target as many victims as possible in a short period of time.

Once you become informed about the techniques used by scammers to trick people out of their "good faith" money you will be able to not only protect yourself, but others as well.

Tell your parents or grandparents about this scam. Ask your bank manager if they are aware of it.

Do not however confront the criminals with your knowledge of their true plan. Simply say you are not interested and walk away to somewhere safe where you can notify the police or mall security.
